Maeda Family Residence was built in the early Showa period as the residence of Marquis Toshitame Maeda, the former lord of the Kaga domain. Both the Western and Japanese buildings are nationally designated important cultural properties. It is now open to the public as part of Meguro Komaba Park. Komaba Park was later opened in the mid-Showa period as a park in Tokyo now Meguro Ward. The Japanese-style building was designed by Iwajiro Sasaki , who also built buildings at Kyoto's Heian  tea room is said to be a copy of the Urasenke tea room, Matakakure. was created by Seibei Kimura. The garden was created by Hiroshi Hara, a modern landscape architect who was involved in creating the forest garden at Meiji Shrine.
