Duomo di Santa Maria Assunta (Cathedral of Saint Mary of the Assumption), Pisa, Tuscany, Italy: 19th century mosaic in lunette over south doorway in west front. The cathedral was founded in 1064 and consecrated in 1118. It was built in Pisan Romanesque style in two stages, one by architect Busketo (or Buscheto), who created the original layout, and one by Rainaldo, who extended the building and the façade. The building was not finally completed until the late 1300s, with Gothic additions.
