A US Air Force (USAF) A-10 Thunderbolt II ground crew, 303rd Fighter Squadron (FS), Whiteman Air Force Base, Missouri (MO), perform preflight checks on its jet prior to a nighttime take off at Kirkuk Air Base (AB) in northern Iraq. The fighter squadron is responsible for providing close air support (CAS) to ground troops throughout the northern third of the country in support of Operation IRAQI FREEDOM.
