In proportion to her meansMrs. Kate Lemen Suess has always been a liberaland active supporter of religious interests and othergood causes. Her sons are all dutiful, industriousand affectionate, and altogether, mother and children,constitute a very happy family. She was united in marriage to Major Henry Suessof Denver, Colo., in that city, on March 23, BIOGRAPHICAL. 277 Major Suess was a gallant soldier and officer in theUnion army during the war, and was a brave defenderof the old flag in many a hard-fought battle. He isa man of large means and liberal culture, and he hasa very substantial rating among the business men ofColorado and the West. He and his wife live at theirresidence at 1634 Downing avenue, Denver, Colo., andsome of the members of the Majors family and ClydeLemen Taylor live with them. Hugh Lemen Taylor (789), the first son of Lemen Suess, completed a liberal education,comprising a thorough course in every department ofthe theory and practice of medicine. He traveledabroad for a short time visiting the chief capitals andcountries of Europe, and is now a practicing physi-cian in Denver, Colo., with a large and successfulpractice.
