Cairo Egypt. 12 August 2020. Egyptians cast their vote for the newly created senate at a polling station in Shubra El Kheima, a city located along the northern edge of the Cairo Governorate. The second chamber of parliament was reconstituted as part of constitutional amendments that also allowed President Sissi to extend his stay in power. The Senate elections have been held at 11,500 polling stations across Egypt on Tuesday and Wednesday, amidst restrictive measures in place to curb a resurgence of Covid-19 infections
