Selingue, Mali, 25th April 2015; Sayo Keita, 17, charcoal seller, works with his brother. He left school recently, got to 9th grade. He cuts wood and makes charcoal, then sells each bag of charcoal for 2,500 CFA. He has 8 bags to sell and he will sell them all today. He also works in gold mining during the dry season, going down into the mines 8 meters deep. He can make up to 150,000 CFA in a month doing this. With his earnings he has bought a solar panel and battery to run a TV where he lives with his parents. There are 30 people in the compound. He says ‘everybody works at home’.
