After the divisionof the superficial fascia, aproper allowance should bemade for the breadth ofthe tibialis anticus, in orderto strike the line of divisionupon the dense fascia be-tween the two muscles. Theartery will be found at thebottom of this space, lyingon the interosseous mem-brane. At the lower part of theleg a less incision is neces-sary, the vessel being moresuperficial.
