The attack can be shortened and its severitylessened by treatment; but the disease is alwaysslow, and from six to twelve months may be takenas a fair average for its duration from beginning toend. Very bad cases with excessively dense opacitysometimes continue to improve for several years, andreach a very unexpected degree of sight.
