From Salthouse beach, north Norfolk, England looking towards the village and showing the shingle having moved inland.
The shingle bank on Salthouse beach used to be rebuilt each winter by bulldozers in an attempt to protect freshwater marshes behind. But this was eventually seen to be unstainable and it has been left to find iits own level, and shingle has begun to move inland, with storm action, onto the marshes, parts of which, despite improved drainage, will gradually become brackish and then salt marsh.
