Theseholders are arranged to receive dies andpunches for all sizes of key ways in use,so that when key ways are in order it isonly necessary to remove one set and ap- c- -6--| ■4/41=. \0% method, where practicable, is a good thingfor the reason that dies are adjusted toposition with greater facility, and havethe added advantage that they can be re-moved and other dies introduced withoutremoving the holders from the buckles are formed on dies in three bendings, two of which aremade in one die, bringing the buckleroughly to shape, after which it is finishedin the second dies, so that no machinework is required in so far as the frame fit 22 LOCOMOTIVE ENGINEERING, is concerned. The blank of the rightlength for the buckle is placed in diesand bent on one end only; it is then re-versed, and the end first bent is placed inthe slotted end of die, while the blank isbent at the open end. This gives thebuckle the proper form, and it is thenplaced in the finishing dies and given thecorrect dimensions to fit the upper frame. The buckles for lower section of frameare made in the same dies, and examplesof both are shown in the illustrations. Itwill be rememb
