BROTHERS IN DECAY

A world war 2 pillbox, situated on the coast at Redcar, provides a stark reminder that everything eventually comes to an end. The blast furnace in the background, once the largest in Europe when it opened in 1979, now stands idle following the closure of Redcar Steelworks and the redundancy of over 2,200 people in 2015. After a previous mothballing of the plant in 2012, hopes of the works re-opening now appear to be forlorn.
