In some examples the garrets wereabsent, as in the Founders Range at Emmanuel College, 1585,as shewn by Loggan; in the second Court of S. Early in the seventeenth century this mode was abandoned,and the ranges of chambers were built in two floors, or, moreusually, in three floors, with garrets lighted on both sides bydormer windows in the roof.
