The Club was remark-ably fortunate this year in being able to secure as speakers, menvery high up in their various professions. Another good pointconcerning these meetings was that a very inspiring feeling ofgood fellowship was created among the members as they met ona common ground, and had a hearty, jolly time together. Coal was the subject of the evening,and Mr. James McEvoy, a very prominent Mining Engineer andGeologist, gave a splendid address on The Utilization of West-ern Coals in Ontario. Mr. McEvoy js a well-known authority onthis subject, and his lecture was most instructive and interesting. In December another Coal evening was held, at whicha large number of the wholesale and retail men were the courtesy of the Sullivan Machinery Company, athree-reel moving-picture on The Story of Coal was the picture was given, Professor Alexander Maclean, ofthe Geology Department, who has done a great deal of workin the Western coal fields, gave a very enlightening and interest-ing lecture on The Origin of Coal. The
