The centre of Stanley society is Government House,and picnics, dances, and dinners follow hard uponeach other. I can assure you that there is plenty toamuse you in Stanley—that is, if you have the privilegeof being admitted to the upper ten (without athousand!). Life is much less easy for those who have beenstranded on this inhospitable coast, not of their ownfree will, but by a cruel fate.
