This surprisingly abstract-looking shot is actually a close-up image of the star-shaped seed head clusters on an Allium growing in our very own Oxfordshire garden. Did you guess it? Allium is a genus of flowering plants that includes hundreds of species, including the cultivated onion, garlic, scallion, shallot, leek, and chives. Although already abstract in form, I got a bit adventurous and turned it into something more colourful and surreal, using a combination of Photoshop techniques including image folding, rotation, multi-layer blending, transformations and gradient mapping. I hope you like it!
