A closeup nature photograph of a Hummingbird Clearwing Moth feeding on a flower. This Hemaris diffinis is feeding. Also known as bee hawk-moth.
I created this wildlife photo of a Hemaris diffinis (Hummingbird Moth) as it was feeding on a wildflower near Winter Haven, Florida. This moth is not rare but it is kind of shy and seldom seen. It is one of the few insects that routinely hover over the top of their food source while feeding. In Great Britain and other English-speaking areas it is commonly known as a bee hawk-moth. Its flight pattern is erratic and darting when it is feeding near it’s favorite food, flowers.
