His mother Ethnea or Eithnc,^^ derived her descent from Amalgad,son to Fiach. He was king over Connaught, in St. Patricks time.** Thelife of our ;9 states, that Ethne sprung from the posterity of Aulai; andthis latter appears coincident with the name of ° Our were childless for some time ; but they prayed Almighty God tobestow an heir upon them. Lethan, and now known as Drumlahan or Drumlane, in the present baronyof Lower Loughtee, Cavan County.^ It lies about three miles from Beturbetvillage, and it is a parish in Kilmore diocese. This latter enume-ration, our readers will perceive, gives usseventeen saints, belonging to Colla Hua-siuss family. This instance, and a few otherpassages, show, that Colgan himself madesome mistakes, even excluding many typo-graphi^cal ones, which disfigure his Acta Sanctoru
