Slender columns divide scenes; left 1/3, scenes from life of Esther & Ahasuerus (Xerxes/Artaxerxes); center, Christ enthroned, before him stand Mercy holding lilies (L) & Justice holding sword (R); 2 groups of figures flanking Christ, secular society (L) & ecclesiastics (R); Adam & Eve (top corners); right, scenes from story of Charlemagne (?) (BRD) vines of flowers & bunches of grapes Possibly woven in Brussels (Campbell). Fragments of 3 or 4 different tapestries have been joined to form this panel. Cavallo's Met catalog distinguishes 3 groups, the left 1/3 being "27a", the center as "27b" & the right 1/3 as "27c". The lower border of "27b" is missing. However, GCPA 0239459 shows the tapestry with all its borders & before it was joined with the other panels (Dimitrova).
