Produced in 1954 this steam engine is in service on the 1000mm narrow gauge Brocken Railway in the Harz mountains, Germany.

One of the so called New Steam Engines produced in 1954 for Germany's 1000mm narrow gauge steam railway in the Herz mountains. The new engines were a close copy of the standard issue locomotives of the 1930's. This engine runs on the Brocken Railway from Wernigerode to the summit of the Brocken, the highest mountain in the Harz National Park. The peak of the Brocken was a military base which has only been open to the public for a relatively short time. Until the fall of the Berlin Wall it was off limits to all bu the Soviet Army.
