A late Gothic German letterbox, circa 1500 Rectangular oakwood casket heavily reinforced with iron bands, and with remnants of the original finish. Triple-hinged lid with a curved, "M"-shaped iron handle. The front section has an internal lock and displays two later coats of arms, dated "1610". The interior with a small seperate compartment. Some repairs to the wood and mountings. Old matching key.
