Every preparation being completed, Lati-mer was brought forth by the mayor and bailiffs, together with Ridley. The contrast exhibited in theappearance of the two sufferers was striking, and ex-cited the liveliest sympathy in the spectators. Ridley,in the prime of life and intellect, radiant with holyhope, and rejoicing in being deemed worthy to shedforth his life in this great cause, came forward withan elastic step, arrayed with care and attention in the(224j.
