After com-pleting his studies in the commonschools of Hampden, the son enteredMaine Central Institute, Pittsfield,and acquired there and in HampdenAcademy a thorough collegiate pre-paration and passed the examinationsfor Colby College, but did not pur-sue the course. Instead he became a 170 New Hampsliire^s Largest Toion student in the dental office of Dr. Bryant of Pittsfield, followingwhich he went to the Baltimore Col-lege. Upon receiving his degree ofdoctor of dental surgery, he beganpractice in Presque Isle, and there re-mained until 1897 and his removalto Claremont. From the beginningof his professional career his has beenan exceptional success. He married Miss Leonora Barto ofPresque Isle and they have onedaughter, Margaret. Doctor Shaw isa Knight Templar in the Masonic or-. Z. p. Shaw. D. D. S. der, a Universalist and trustee of thechurch in Claremont. He is now vice-president of the New Hampshire Den-tal Association and member of theNortheastern Dental Association. Another of the young lawyers ofthe town, of pleasing personality andbright promise, is Leon E. Paige, whohas been located in an office in UnionBlock for the past three years. He isa graduate of the Concord HighSchool and the Law Department ofthe University of Michigan, class of1904. T. E. Couitt, proprietor of the newBelmont hotel, has been in his pres-ent business about two years and hasmet with encouraging success.
