Anotlier and a much later church, calledTeampull na Manach, was erected outsidethe graveyard, and about fifteen yards from the east end of the presentteampull, with an altar in the middle, 4 feet square by 3 feet high, andhaving a round gray stone on the top. This altar and a part of thewall of the church are said to have been standing early in the presentcentury. About twelve miles to tlie south-west of North Rona is Sfda Sgeir,a high rocky island, with precipitous sides about one-third of a mile inlength ; at the east side of the southern point is a stone-roofed oratoiy,called Tigh Bennaiclde (Blessed House), measuring internally about 276 EOYAL SOCIETY OF ANTIQUARIES OF lEELAND. 14 feet long, 8 feet wide at the middle, and 6 feet 4 inches at the walls rise with a curve towards each other, and are roofed withstones laid horizontally. The doorway is in the south-west end, andhas inclined jambs and flat head. It measures 3 feet 5 inches high,16 inches wide at top, and 22 inches at bottom. There is a small windowin the east end and an altar stone, 2 feet 8 inches long, on a raised possibility of landing on this island was so uncertain, that it wasnot attempted.
