Grand Duke Pavel Petrovich (1754 - 1801) - a significant plate Royal Prussian Porcelain Factory, circa 1778. White glazed porcelain. A hand-painted double eagle with the coat of arms of Russia and Holstein-Gottorp in the centre, gilt rim. The base with blue underglaze sceptre mark. Diameter cm. Of exceptional condition and quality. Rare. The plate is a piece from the table service Frederick the Great gave as a present to Grand Duke Pavel Petrovich of Russia (later Pavel I). Cf. E.
