This British-based label seemed to specialize in music from the Caribbean. It was a subsidiary of Polygon Records and ceased production in 1955. On this record Marie Bryant is accompanied by Mike McKenzie Quintet, featuring Bertie King on alto Bryant was an American dancer, singer and choreographer, described as "one of the most vivacious black dancers in the United States". She was born in Meridian, Mississippi. By the age of 10 she was performing impersonations of Josephine Baker at her church. She made her professional debut with Louis Armstrong at the Grand Terrace Cafe in Chicago in 1934. She then performed in Los Angeles with Lionel Hampton, and at the Cotton Club in New York with Duke Ellington. She appeared in the RKO movies Your Red Wagon and They Live By Night. She taught dance moves to film actors, working with Gene Kelly – who called her "one of the finest dancers I've ever seen in my life"
