Both appeals will beargued soon before the Supreme Court Personal Mention Mr. Jackson Sails forEngland He Will Study Particularly the Opera-tion of the Zone System in theUnited Kingdom Walter Jackson of the Electric Rail-way Journal sailed for England onthe Balmoral Castle on Dec. 2 for anextended, detail study of electric rail-way operating conditions in the UnitedKingdom, more particularly on the re-lation of the zone fare to communitydevelopment, the use of buses andtrackless trolleys, methods of freightand package goods handling, etc. His. WALTER JACKSON studies of the zone fare will appear ina series of articles covering the widestpossible variety and size of cities, sothat American operators can betterjudge what the zone fare really is anddoes. He will also write on otherphases of operation. During the last sixteen years has made several trips toEurope in addition to his wide travelsin America, for both the editorial andbusiness activities of the paper. Hehas been commissioned to visit Eng-land again at this time because of theimperative need of American electricrailways for exact information on theworkings of the zone fare system. Thushis trip is another expression of theworld-wide service which the ElectricRailway Journal has always beenglad to render to the industry. Mr. Jackson has for some time hadthe title of business manager of theJournal and Derformed the duties ofof that office. He has, however, con-tinued to give a part of his time toeditorial work.
