Gajipur, Bangladesh - November 2, 2013: Bangladesh clothing and garment factories are often filled with hundreds of female laborers who work long shifts for, often, low wages. When Bangladeshi women are separated from their husbands or are being divorced, then they have no choice but to stay in her husband’s house. During that time, there is a big question as to how she'll eat and feed herself. It's also the same case if she's in her father’s home. If they can't get any decent job, they'll choose to beg or do some odd job in random houses. And sometimes, they choose other third class jobs. Many poor women are being established by garment factories. Both from inside and outside of the country, people always see the bad side of the garment factories, but factories also have its advantages. Any poor village girl that doesn't have much can earn her way to a decent enough life where she could spend and manage her own money. Garment factory workers have proposed 8000 Taka for their salary, but are now only given 5300 Taka. A well-off garment factory gives over 6000 Taka from the day they start to work. But some small and new garment factories are not paying their workers the correct amount. When a new girl or woman works for the first time in a garment factory, her salary is fixed at 5300 Taka, which is usually short of the monthly budget she needs which is double the amount of her salary. When a worker does good work, she can be promoted to the production sector of the garment factory. In this production sector one worker can earn 16 to 20 thousand Taka per month.
