The choice between the two types of partitions is amatter of personal preference, often dependent on local costs of materials and labor. HOLLOW PARTITIONS Hollow partitions may be bearing or non-bearing, according to the strength of the studsused. In either case the Hy-Rib Lath is attached to the two faces of the studs; the stiffnessof the ribs permits wide spacing of studs, thus saving in cost of partition. Studs may be ofwood or steel, depending on the nature of the construction. We furnish two types of hollowpressed steel studs (described on page 6): non-bearing, consisting of two % channelsseparated by spacing bars, and bearing studs, consisting of channel or H shapes providedwith prongs for attaching the lath.
