There is a group of old cedars in Spencer County which also should be classed as living memorials of Abra- ham Lincoln. They mark the site of one of the early communities which greatly influenced Lincoln. Here at Jonesboro, Abraham Lincoln not only attended school but also clerked in a store. The cedars served as a pro- tection for the school house and are about a century and a quarter old. Here, as a small lad, Lincoln played with the other children of the com- munity.
