Raised earthwork of Hadrian's Wall next to the tarn thought to have been dug during the construction of the wall, Bleatarn farm.
The course of the Roman wall follows the ridge on the left of the picture, presumably there was once a stone structure on top of it. The depression on the right is thought to have been excavated by the Romans while constructing the wall, it may have been used as a pond for the supply of fish. The location is at Bleatarn farm, Irthington, near Brampton in Cumbria.
