City documents Municipal register, mayor's address, annual reports, etc . statement for the fiscal yearending November 30, 1922. The Board was organized for the year as follows: Mr. William P. Covell was elected chairman, and F. Caswell, Secretary. The personnel of the Board remained the same as lastyear. The ai)pointment of Mr. William F. Caswell for aterm of five years to succeed himself was duly confirmed bythe City Government. The Commission in its previous reports has frequentlyrecommended the purchase of the land south of KemptonStreet adjoining the north line of Buttonwood Park. Theacquisition of this land has been made possible during thepast year by purchase through a special appropriation. Thistract consists of two hundred and sixty rods of low swampland which necessitates drainage, filling and grading. Dur-ing the past year we have made some progress towards thisdevelopment in the way of draining and filling in. It is ourhope the coming year to secure the services of a landscapearchitect to draw up plans along artistic lines which will. < Oh < oo pg , PARK DEPARTMENT beautify this new plot and it will also give us a compre-hensive plan outlined in detail from which to work as fundsbecome available. We would like an attractive entrance tothe Park from Kempton Street, one that is dignified yetsomewhat ornamental in character, A much needed improvement was made the past yearat Buttonwood Park in the building of a new barn compris-ing a wagon shed, tool room, and harness room. It facil-itates greatly in handling the work in a more economicalmanner. The north line of Middle Street between and Water Street was widened by cutting away fourfoot of the sidewalk on the south line of Bridge Approach,This change of street line was advised by our SuperintendentMr. Sherman to relieve congested traffic at the bridge ap-proach. Would also recommend the acquisition of land along thesouth boundary of Hazel wood Park extending to LucasStree
