Vacuum cleaner. Domestic vacuum cleaner against a blue background. The main body of the appliance (made from plastic) contains a bag and an electric motor which drives a fan. The flexible hose is fitted with a brush head which is designed for use on hard surfaces; a solid head would be used on soft surfaces. A vacuum cleaner removes dust from household floors and furnishings. The appliance does not contain a vacuum but uses a fan to suck air through the hose into a collection bag. The air passes through the bag, but any dust particles suspended in the air are trapped. The plastic used in the construction of the appliance is acrylonitrile butadiene styrene.
