A wheellock pistol, German, Suhl, circa 1670. Cuirassier Regiment von Kaunitz-Rietberg. Round barrel, cm long in 14 mm calibre. The third of the barrel at the chamber end is octagonal. Marked "IR" over a heart. The proof marks "SVL" and the Sul hen on the underside of the barrel. The lock has an exterior wheel, single wheel bearing, slightly cambered lockplate, the pan with a sliding cover, and an angled cock. Spring-loaded trigger.
