Rubble walls faced with tabular sandstone blocks (core and veneer) at Una Vida Pueblo, Chaco Canyon, New Mexico, with Fajada Butte to the south. The walls, built of Chaco Type IV Masonry, formed part of the NE extension of the two- to three-storey Anasazi town dating to the C11th AD. Fajada Butte across Chaco Wash is famous as the site of the 'sun dagger': three fallen, on-edge sandstone slabs which direct slivers of sunlight onto two spirals carved on the cliff wall to indicate local solar noon, the winter & summer solstices, and the spring & autumn equinoxes.
