It is possible to determinefive main shapes: (a) Short, round-bodied pithoi with tapering necks, and small verticalribbon handles on the body. Below the handles the vase narrows in rapidlyto a small flattened bottom. In the complete example shown in Fig. 125the remarkable points of the pattern are its division into panels, and theplacing of spirals at the top of the vertical bands. Several fragments ofvases of this shape were found : all have a crossed circle on the bottom. The photographs have been retouched, as the patterns are Cf. restored pattern in Fig. 131a.
