Iximche is a Pre-Columbian Mesoamerican archaeological site in the western highlands of Guatemala. Former capital of the Mayans, the site was abandoned in 1524. Declared a Guatemalan National Monument in the 1960s it now has a small museum displaying a number of pieces found there, including sculptures and ceramics, as well as the pyramid, temples, and stone steps that formed the bones of an ancient civilization.
