In all, nearly two hundred buildings goto make up the Exposition city. For the extensive gardens, surroundingthe exhibit palaces, the flora of everyregion has been drawn upon. The cli-mate of California makes it possible tokeep the grounds in continual bloomthroughout the ten months of the Expo-sition, from February 20th to December4th. With this purpose in view therewill be a succession of plantings, onevariety being removed, as soon as it hasblossomed, to be succeeded by another. The architecture of the Exposition ingeneral tone is decidedly Oriental. Thiseffect is particularly marked in the suc-cession of lofty domes that mark thecenters of the several exhibit is in the portals of the buildings andthe decoration of the several courts thatthe various architectural periods find rep-resentation.
