Piles of sulphur at a chemical plant. Sulphur may be obtained from native deposits using superheated steam (Frasch process), may be produced from metal ores such as lead sulphide, or may be recovered from the hydrogen sulphide gas found in oil or natural gas deposits. About 90% of the sulphur produced each year is used to make sulphuric acid. Photographed near Vancouver, Canada.
