Sedona, Arizona, Pitcher's Mound
Sedona, Arizona is a small city in the northern Verde Valley, straddling the line between Coconino and Yavapai counties. It is famous for the red sandstone formations that encircle the town. They glow a brilliant red and orange at sunrise and sunset. Many people claim the existence of psychic vortexes which supposedly encompass swirling energy, offering healing and uplifting feelings. Pink Jeep Tours offers various tours on rugged off-road adventures showing off Sedona's red rock formations. We took the Broken Arrow Tour following a trail through Coconino National Forest. I was going to discard this photo but it has an interesting bit of local detail. I took the photo because of the "pitcher's mound" but when I looked at it on my computer, it was not so interesting. Then I noticed the large number of homes that have been constructed in the valley. I guess this is where Sedona is growing — hope the homes have the views that we can see in the distance.
