One of Iowa's first framed built buildings constructed at Bellevue, Iowa, a hotel by W W Brown , allegedly a notorius local criminal of ' Bellevue War' fame. The Bellevue War was a shootout between a posse led by Sheriff W. A. Warren and Thomas Cox against W. W. Brown's gang . It took place in Bellevue on April 1, 1840
