Bodie Lighthouse on Bodie Island, North Carolina, USA.
The Bodie Island Lighthouse is undergoing restoration. This the third Lighthouse on Bodie Island. The first was built in 1847 in an area which is now under water on Pea Island. It was abandoned in 1859 because of a poor foundation. The second lighthouse was destroyed by Confederate troops in 1861. This lighthouse is the third Bodie Island Lighthouse and was completed in 1871. It stands 156' and it light can bee seen for approximately 22 nautical miles. It stands on the sound side of the island.
