Capture of Andre in 1780. Major John Andre (1751-1780) served as a British spy during the American Revolution (1775-1783). He was found guilty of negotiating with Benedict Arnold for the betrayal of West Point and, after a trial by court-martial, was found guilty. He was hanged in Tappan, New York.
