Wind tunnel test. Technician prepares to test a model Future Supersonic Transport Aircraft (ATSF), the proposed successor to Concorde, in the S2Ch wind tunnel. This facility can generate subsonic winds at speeds of up to 300 kilometres per hour, and allows precise measurements of an aircraft's aerodynamic properties. When built, the ATSF is expected to travel at speeds of up to 2300 kilometres per hour over a range of up to 10,000 kilometres. It is expected to be 89 metres long & 42 metres wide, and will carry up to 250 passengers. Photographed in a tunnel operated by the National Office for the Study and Research of Aerospace (ONERA) at Chalais-Meudon, France.
