MAYPORT, Fla. (March 15, 2017) – Aviation Boatswain’s Mate (Handling) 1st Class Steven Phakonkham, assigned to amphibious assault ship USS Iwo Jima (LHD 7), teaches a student how to properly don a proximity suit during the Mayport Middle School Career Fair. Iwo Jima recently returned from conducting a series of qualifications and certifications as part of the basic phase of training in preparation for future operations and deployments.
