At the curves thetunnel must, of course, be somewhat wider. The tunnelwill be constructed of cement, and the i-m walls and bedare made water-tight by means of asphalt felting. Abovethe cement bed a brick layer will be built, which contains awater drain. This roof is composed of iron beams, whichrest on the cement walls 1 m apart. Between these beamscement arches will be constructed similar to those in Buda-pest. These arches are leveled off on top by means of a. The building of the underground portion of the roadwas begun but recently, and for that reason we are not in aposition to present any illustrations of this part of theundertaking. As will be seen from the plan, there will betwo depots, one at the Wittenberg Platz and the other, thetemporary terminal station, at the Zoological latter station will adjoin the present station of thecity belt line, and for this purpose the Hardenbergstrassewill be widened from 17 m to 43 m. These stations arereached by means of stairways which are flanked by simplebalustrades. These approaches have the advantage ofgreat ease in reaching the station, as the stairs are only layer of cement, above which is laid a water-tight cover-ing of asphalt felting. Above this the pavement is laid. The tunnel is built during the day in those
