Kamnar’s toplar from Ravnik (double hay) for drying hay. One of many examples in theOpen-air museum’ of The Land of Hayracks .
A hayrack (Slovene: kozolec) is a freestanding vertical drying rack found chiefly in Slovenia. Hayracks are permanent structures, primarily made of wood, upon which fodder for animals is dried, although their use is not limited to drying hay. Other food stuffs such as field maize are dried on them as well. The kozolec, a hayrack made chiefly of wood, featuring a roof and, often, intricate decorative elements, has been part of Slovenian architecture for centuries and remains one of the most recognisable features of folk architecture.
