Otto Pilz (1876 - 1934), "Two fighting wolves" Sculpture made of grey, streaked marble, originally created for the entrance hall of the sanatorium Meersburg. Very detailed work hewn from a single piece of marble, inset glass eyes, with coloured claws and mouths, the oval plinth signed "O. Pilz". Slightly bumped, but no major chips. On further marble panel. Height 26 cm, length 38 cm. Otto Pilz was a Dresden animal sculptor and studied at the School of Applied Arts in Dresden and at the Berlin Academy of Arts under Begas, Breuer and Eberlein.
