Colegiata de Sant Pere, Ponts. XII century.


"The first documents that refer to the canonical Sant. Pere de Ponts dating back to 1024, during the time of Ermengol II. The year 1091 will be granted ecclesiastical rights. The group is formed by the church, rebuilt and remains canonical dependencies. It consists of a single nave with a barrel vault and three apses trefoil shape. Regarding the openings, two windows and a door so to the north as the south. To the west plus a window is a smaller door. The building is well restored. The dome is an octagonal prism with two levels of windows and include Lombard decoration. They are both interesting stone sarcophagi of the time they are preserved. In 1931 it was declared a national monument. The theft of the church over the years made raising awareness of citizens and caused the creation of the Association of Friends of Sant. Pere de Ponts, who has restored it with the help of the authorities.
