They carry a long sword or a lance, and wearwrapped round their waists a great sheet of cotton stuffwith which they cover themselves in sleeping at part of the desert is without the least trace oforganic life, and the track is marked out by the remains offallen camels ; excessive dryness and heat prevent thesefrom decaying, and the skin becomes like parchment drawn.
