St. Ann's Well in Buxton was an important Roman station built around the natural hot spring of the well on the route from Manchester to Lincoln. The water is charged with nitrogen and carbon gas and comes up from deep underground at a constant temperature of 28C. The water, unlike most spa water, is pleasant to drink
